Milad Tangshir was born in 1983 in Tehran, Iran, where he worked as a musician. In 2011 he moved to Italy. Since 2012, he has made several short films and video essays that have been screened at numerous film festivals and won awards. His first VR Free is his first project in virtual reality.

A VR film about freedom and captivity

There is conclusive research suggesting that VR not only supports the retrieval of memories, but can also create false memories. VR Free explores what it means to provide prisoners in an Italian prison with VR headsets that allow them to virtually participate in some spatial respite beyond their prison walls, compensating for what some prisoners miss most: new memories.
