The Places _ Startup Pitch offers young companies with exceptional business ideas from the fields of VR, AR and related technologies the chance to present themselves to a jury with representatives from venture capitalists, business development and XR expertise. XR startups from all over Europe have the chance to present themselves in front of the jury and in the live stream to pitch for the Places _ Startup of the Year award and win the associated prize money. Especially for early-stage startups, the Places _ Pitch is just the right thing to get in touch with the XR scene via the presentation and the festival.

With its 3D archive service, Digifactura is particularly exciting for museums and cultural institutions. The possibility of a spatial representation of art objects as well as a digital VR exhibition, in combination with the very easily scalable business model, convinced the jury!

Westfälische Hochschule

Dr Karin Küffmann is Professor of Business Informatics in the Department of Economics at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences in Gelsenkirchen. The current focus of her work is in the area of digitalisation in the region and SMEs. This includes topics such as visibility on the internet, technologies of commerce, IoT – concepts and smart cites, especially sustainability aspects.

Johannes Behringer

Johannes Behringer has been working in venture capital since 2018. He looks for promising business models for early growth through research based on first principles and bold narratives. Currently, Johannes is interested in the intersection of networks, computing power and human nature.

Prior to working in the VC space, Johannes worked in policy and research at an EU institution and a US policy programme focusing on the future of financial markets.

Johannes studied in the US and graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa and with honours in ethics, politics and economics.

Oliver Weimann is a serial founder and has been an active part of the German start-up scene for over 10 years. Thanks to his passionate motivation, his far-reaching network and his diverse experience, he is one of the central figures of the scene in the Ruhr region today. With the RuhrSummit 2016, he initiated the high-profile birth of the regional scene and brought all the important partners to actively cooperate. This living network of private initiatives will continue to ensure dynamism and unpredictability in the Ruhr region in the future.
