Will urban development become more democratic with XR?

The way cities are to be built in the future must be negotiated – citizens, planners, politicians and administrators must have their say and exchange ideas. VR and AR are now established technologies that can and should help all those involved to better imagine what exactly they are talking about and what planning and visions look like. The panel will also look back at what took place during the Places _ VR Festival 2021 in the field of urban planning and architecture, such as the project “Imagine Green Urban Futures”. At the same time, the focus is on the future: How should the technology be further developed so that it also arrives practically in the cities? And how is it feasible that all participants together get a tangible access – beyond plans and presentations by experts?
