About the place
25 years ago, the Science Park Gelsenkirchen started as the symbol for the structural change of the Emscher-Lippe region. In the meantime it has established itself as a popular meeting place for people with good ideas, projects and companies. The glass arcade, which has been crowned with architectural awards, is now the venue for extraordinary events, exhibitions and trade fairs – and since 2018 also for events around the Places _ VR Festival.
Hacktahon
In the glass arcades of the science park, a wide variety of expert teams will spend 24 hours in the Places _ Hackathon and develop VR prototypes on the theme “IT-Security”.

About the place
The digitization has started in a garage. In the underground car park of the Science Park, universities from all over Germany will present themselves at the Places _ VR Festival and show the avant-garde of the current XR technology.
Exhibition of the nominees of the DIVR Science Award
Within the Places _ VR Festival, the presentation of the nominated university projects and the award ceremony of the DIVR Award will take place on Friday and Saturday. The stations of the university teams can be visited in the period from Friday 15 – 20 o’clock and on Saturday from 11 – 18 o’clock.
