A 12-year-old girl had a narrowing of the heart aorta repaired in this way. The doctors decided in favor of the technology because it could be used in a minimally invasive way and because the patient’s vital signs could be displayed in the surgeons’ field of vision in addition to the endoscopic image.
\nMore details about the procedure can be found at XRtoday: [\/vc_column_text][mk_button dimension=”two” size=”medium” url=”https:\/\/www.xrtoday.com\/virtual-reality\/ukrainian-doctors-perform-first-vr-surgery\/” target=”_blank” bg_color=”#27215b”]read more[\/mk_button][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”50px”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1626429706818{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]\n
Smartphone becomes a 3D scanner<\/h1>\n
We already reported about Niantec and their new mobile AR game in the last XR news. Now the company has developed an exciting feature for smartphones that uses the phone to easily create 3D mappings.
\nBy smartly linking scans created by players in the company’s games, this gradually assembles a 3D clone of reality. Players of PokemonGO, for example, receive corresponding in-game bonuses for their 3D scans. Thanks to improved depth detection in the camera application, this is also possible without a lidar scanner.
