Instead of simply streaming their children’s theater plays, the Puppentheater Zwickau relies on transmission with 360\u00b0 technology. Goethe’s “Erlk\u00f6nig” kicks things off. The goal is not a 1:1 representation of the stage version but a completely unique immersive experience.

First heart surgery with VR technology<\/h1>\n

In Ukraine, doctors have performed heart surgery with the help of VR glasses and cameras for the first time. A 12-year-old girl had a narrowing of the heart aorta repaired in this way. The doctors decided in favor of the technology because it could be used in a minimally invasive way and because the patient’s vital signs could be displayed in the surgeons’ field of vision in addition to the endoscopic image.

Smartphone becomes a 3D scanner<\/h1>\n

We already reported about Niantec and their new mobile AR game in the last XR news. Now the company has developed an exciting feature for smartphones that uses the phone to easily create 3D mappings.
\nBy smartly linking scans created by players in the company’s games, this gradually assembles a 3D clone of reality. Players of PokemonGO, for example, receive corresponding in-game bonuses for their 3D scans.
