About the places
1919 saw the opening of the administration building of Gelsenkirchener Gussstahl- und Eisenwerke AG, which had evolved from the iron foundry founded by the Strassburg brothers in 1861. After the production of the cast steel plant was stopped in 1984, the building stood empty at first and then became the home of the Gelsenkirchen Labour Court and then, as is currently the case, the NRW Talent Centre. At the Places _ VR Festival, the building will be overshadowed by the VR mining truck of the WDR (West German Broadcasting Corporation), in keeping with the industrial history of the site.
