pimento formate creatively uses technology for events, education and entertainment – especially for climate and social issues. The mix of storytelling, 3D designs, games and the integration of social media creates special interactive AR experiences that people want to share with others.

The team from the Cologne office Greenbox Landschaftsarchitekten, led by Felix Brennecke, applied with the idea of thinking urban planning vertically with the help of an AR application and thus using the street or urban space on several levels.

The variously planted nature islands create different poetic moments in Bochumer Straße. With reference to lines of sight, directions of movement and the course of the tramway, insect-friendly plantings, flower-filled retreats and sheltered meeting places are visualised in the urban space.

Coming from the south, the wildflower field creates a colourful attraction even from a distance. As you pass, narrow paths open up to retreats hidden in the tall sea of blossoms. Further along the road, a tunnel structure covered with blossoms creates a visual experience for the passengers of the tram passing through. At the fork in the road to Bergmannstraße, tall trees line the square, inviting people to play boules, swing, drink coffee and linger between the trees. Tall flowering perennials direct the view around the corner to Bergmannstraße and hide a small pond covered with water lilies. As the last island, the pergola forms a séparée planted with vines. The evening ends under the vines, sheltered from the tram traffic.

Under the motto “Imageine Urban Green Futures”, lala.ruhr invites you to discover the inner courtyard and the visionary garage workshops: We will present digital innovations in spatial planning with images, videos and animations, and in the garages you can meet the technology partners, programmers and artists at work. The green courtyard and its garages will be transformed into an inspiring green lounge for two days.
